Letter of Recommendation
Tribute to a deserving recruit

Attention: United States Army Recruitment Center

I welcome the opportunity to provide a reference for Mr. Jonathan Mraz in conjunction with his application to the United States Army for Officer Candidate School. Jonathan played pivotal rolls in both our Veterans support organization Patriot Defenders Network and our community policing project, Citizens Community Watch. He applied his technical expertise as a volunteer to our Rally for America at our State Capitol in support of our Nation’s troops, their families and our honored veterans.

As a member of Community Watch, Jonathan joined our team to gather cyber intelligence from the Internet and on the street weeks in advance of a planned large scale protest against the United States Department of Agriculture Ministerial Conference and Expo on Agricultural Science and Technology hosted by our city.

The threat to our City's public safety was real judging from postings on various internet message boards supporting civil unrest similar to that of the WTO Seattle mass protests and destructive riot. We shared our resources and findings with local law enforcement in the weeks leading up to the protests. Jonathan played a key role in all facets of that citizen driven effort, including the after-action multi-media documentary of the criminal activity some protesters engaged in. Our city was spared the tragic consequence seen in Seattle due to their lack of intelligence gathering and preparation. Sacramento’s preparedness will long be recognized as a model for appropriate law enforcement response to a large scale threat by violent anarchists. Mr. Mraz, in his selfless style, dedicated many hours in contributing in that successful outcome.

I could offer more words in support of Jonathan being an ideal candidate in service to our country. His action however, speaks volumes to his character and resolve to make a difference in this world. Suffice it to say, passing the torch to this young man in advancing the cause of freedom by any of the veterans in our organizations, would be done with the utmost confidence and affection. Our short term loss will be the US Army’s gain.
