We've received hundred
of requests for copies of the City of Sacramento Anti-war
resolution in useable formats other than the Adobe Acrobat
file that resides on the City Website. We have also
provided the original draft that was brought to Council by
the groups listed below.

Update: November 1,
2005 - A Day of Shame!
PDN's webmaster
received a call in the afternoon that the
City Council would violate their own published policies and
procedures by forcing a vote on an anti-war resolution later
that night. Jenest, no stranger to the City Council's
arrogance, stonewalling and Brown Act violations rushed home
from his job site to dispatch a hurried e-mail to a handful of
friends and allied groups.

Crimewatch Members:
With our city's lack of police resources and
budget cuts to patrol five years in a row, why is this item
back on the agenda. No matter how you feel about the
current issues in Iraq, it's not our City's role to pass
such resolutions. As a matter of fact, it's against their
own written policy guidelines. (Which I will read on the
record if a council member with any principles fails to do
so.)
Agenda Item #8. Council Consideration and Possible Adoption
of Resolution Opposing the War in Iraq and Calling on
President Bush to Set a Timetable for the Withdrawal of
American Troops [ Councilmembers Lauren Hammond and Ray
Tretheway] (Citywide)
Faced with prior commitments for Tuesday
evening, Jenest asked one of his tenants to monitor the live
broadcast on the Local Government cable channel. When the
session got to Agenda Item 7, his cell phone rang, he left work
and headed to City Hall. On arrival, he saw a packed
chamber. Many faces were familiar from prior encounters: USDA
protests, the 16th & J anti-war protests, Open Border
Anti-Immigration Reform protest and the hate police anarchists.
Searching for friendly faces he found one, Bob Reynolds, Member
of Sacramento Town Square and the Sheriff's Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT)
He soon learned 109 anti-war protesters were
signed up to speak in support of the resolution. When asking the
how many speakers were in opposition, he was advised there were
NONE! "There is one... now" he said, handing the required
Speaker's slip to the City Clerk.
Presented here are the links to that lone
voice in opposition along with the entire session for those who
can stomach watching it.
Final Analysis:
It will take a careful look at the Brown
Act and some deep legal research efforts to determine if any
recourse if available to reverse the City Council's action.
Given the vote and their succumbing to the extreme pressure of
the well organized anti-everything bunch in our city, we suspect
it's an unlikely expectation.
As to talk
about a RECALL... Let's not forget Mayor Hayseed Fargo won a
full time job and salary by about 60% of the votes cast in the
City of Sacramento. While that campaign was a scam of
unprecedented proportions the citizens of this city bought it
hook line and sinker. At the same time, they really voted
salaries for all the council critters whose lies about only
being paid $25 per official meetings was overshadowed by their
own W-2 forms should city paychecks in excess of $50,000/yr plus
expenses. The media refused to fully disclose these facts.
The reality
is, had there been an equal
number of citizens appearing in opposition to the resolution, perhaps we
could have forced the matter be put to a public vote. Wishful
thinking perhaps? Rest assured, there will be future
actions the working stiffs of our Capitol City should oppose in
numbers, lest we allow the anti-everything bunch and their
sympathetic council critters speak for all of us.
