Entry #12 The Junior Patriot
Patrol
The Junior Patriot Platoon joins
its sponsoring organization, Patriotwatch.com to form
a special community entry for their Memorial Day tribute.
Honoring today's theme, Some
Sacrificed.... Some Sacrificed Their All.... the team
is lead by a distinguished Veteran of the US Marine Corp and
the National Guard, Sgt Raymond Anthony and his wife Peggy.
Sgt. Anthony Served 4 tours of
duty in Vietnam and was wounded a dozen times. He is the
recipient of 6 Purple Hearts during that 14 years of Marine
Corp service.
He returned home to become a
member of both the Sacramento and Yolo County Sheriff'
Departments, serving law enforcement for 14 years and
joining the National Guard in 1995.
He was activated along with his
son, two days after 9-11. They served together in Baghdad,
Iraq where Sgt. Anthony received his 13th combat
injury and a soon to be bestowed Purple Heart for the 7th
time.
The Patriot Patrol represents a
virtual Pentagon: Veterans of all Campaigns, Families of
all ages, Law Enforcement, the domestic protectors, Teachers
and their Students crafting the future and the Concerned
Citizen. All are represented here today.
The children are proud
supporters of our veterans, military families and their
loved ones serving America all around the globe. On this
solemn day, they pay tribute to the Living's Families, as
their way to honor those who did not come home.
Marching with them are
their teachers and parents from San Juan Unified School
District's Howe Avenue Children's Center.
The Junior Patriots
Patrol special theme this Memorial Day is "Yellow Ribbons on
our trees and in our Hearts."
Supporting the children are
special guests Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty - George Weaver
and Betty Otten.
Sacramento County Sheriff Sgt.
Paul Hauptman and volunteer Sam Treas round out the Law
Enforcement component of this unique entry. Ladies and
Gentlemen ... we salute you!
